When I began to write this book, I faced a complex situation, which included finding a proper issue to write about as well as ensuring the chapter becomes one piece of a readable book. This is the first edition of a book focusing on the issue of transmigration in Indonesia. I have to say thank you to the many people that have supported the making of this book, especially my colleagues at the Department of Government Science, Lampung University. This book consists of five chapters with each chapter focused on different issues. I have attempted to bring as many issues in transmigration studies together in one piece of writing, and I realise that this is indeed not an easy job. Lastly, I hope that this book will be valuable to those who are keen to study transmigration in Indonesia.
